what are you guys liking about 7 so far? i've thought about trying the release candidate, but i haven't found a compelling reason to do so yet.

I tried for 2 weeks to download it, and never got a good one, so I chalked it up to typical M$... I really don't have a reason to leave XP Pro, it has pretty rock solid for 3 years now for me.... Tho I do like reading about 7, so please keep posting reports! ;)

Computers... for me it was a string of BSOD, followed by hanging process, software that didn't work even in compatibility mode, computer refusing to shutdown... worst OS experience since the first version of Win '95.

I tried (was it 5000 or 7000) build, it felted quite good. But drivers for EMU 0404 USB and M-Audio FW1814 were from poopie-land, so I let it go. Maybe when drivers are out (final release and updated drivers) I'll give it another chance. Happy with my DuX-XP, only for audio, njet internet or other things (ubuntu for rescue!). Cheers! (Hmm, beer..)

Been using Windows 7 for a few months, damn solid, and the drivers for my 0404 USB work flawlessly with it.

By the way, further to my message above, can anyone else play CDs via their firewire interface?

Heya, Yeah I can play cd's; just listening to Photek's 'Form and Function' :) I'm using an M-Audio Profire 2626. I'm not using the legacy driver, I'm using the 'texas instruments ohci compliant' driver.

Thanks for your reply, Amberience. However, I wrote my question wrong; I should've added "in Vista?". I can play CDs via firewire in XP, but not Vista or Windows 7. Are you using XP?
