WANT TO RECORD INPUT BUT INPUT + OUTPUT IS RECORDED

MessageAuthor

Hello I use the free version of reaper to sequence asr10, and then record audio track, and it's very nice, i will get the licence in few days I hope But I still have one embarassing problem : I have few tracks playing, and I want to record a new audio track from external synth thru "audio in" of my sound card (us 122 TASCAM) When I stard to record, my synth playing is recorded, but mixed with all the audio tracks witch are playing in background! I would like to record only the thing that I'm playing... Do you know how can I set that ? Thanks Seb R.O.

RE: WANT TO RECORD INPUT BUT INPUT + OUTPUT IS RECORDED

Hello poulainsks and welcome to these forums. You'll find many helpful people here and a lot of useful information. Make sure that you purchase Nicholas' excellent User Guide and ReaMix docs too. Worth their weight in gold. User Guide:.. ReaMix:....... Purchase:.... Distribution:. Nicholas has also written "Home Recording for Beginners", available at all good book shops: If you can, get hold of a copy of the Computer Music Beginner's Guide Special #32 - it's full of tutorials for beginners, using Reaper. This site will ship it internationally: ================================= It certainly is possible. :) It sounds to me that your audio tracks may be going out to the US-122 then being combined with your synth playing and fed back into Reaper where the combined audio is recorded. Is that possible? Have a look at the US-122 configuration set-up and check the routing. Or, perhaps there is some odd routing within Reaper. Can you ZIP up your project file (no samples needed) and post it here as an attachment so we can have a look at it and see what's (not) happening? In XP, right-click the file, select Send To ... compressed (Zipped) folder). When you reply, scroll down a bit, click on [Manage Attachments], browse to your ZIP file, select and Upload it. HTH

Hi DarkStar, thanks for your reply. I don't have routing setup for the tascam US122, or I cannot find it.... Here is the zipped project if you want to take a look at it thanks in advance bye Seb RO

I guess the Tascam does not have that routing possiblity. Your project file looks Ok to me, if you click [View] >> Show Routing Matrix you can see how the tracks are routed - nothing odd there. I loaded soem other waves onto the audio tracks and recorded onto track 17. I could hear the other tracks being played back as expected but they did not appear in my new recording. So, it's a mystery, for the moment.

Hi I have resolved the mystery ! but it was my fault and it was so stupid ! => I had connected output of my mixing console (wich is playing audio card + synth+ sampler) to my audio card input instead of connect direcly output of the synth..... sorry for this ! bye
