SPDIF out for AAC?

I was wondering if its possible for SPDIF out for aac since i can't seem to get this working somehow @@ please help, thx in advance.

The DirectShow filter would need to support S/pdif output. As far as I know none does at the moment. You can try bugging the CoreAAC people if you want ;). Do you have an AAC supporting hardware device?

I use an optical digital out from my pc to connect to my 5.1 speakers to play aac files through iTunes and it works fine.

Kpex: No, I don't have a AAC supporting hardware device as far I know :( DIggedy: Sad thing but I don't have an optical out either :( I'll just have to pray real hard that they support it in the near future, thx for ur help.

@ diggedy What hardware AAC device are you using? (just out of curiousity) What types of AAC are supported? (LC/HE, Mpeg 2/4)

I guess he is not using SPDIF for AAC, he is just using SPDIF for the decoded PCS format.

Maybe we should keep track of MatrixMixer. It doesn't support SPDIF passthrough yet, but it's not far from that. AC3Filter (its brother project) does the passthrough.

As already guessed my hardware doesn't support AAC. But I do get playback through optical, so I guess it's being converted to PCM on it's way out.
