how can i limp her home?

hello chaps, 1st post on the 850 section.. so i have no clue about these cars yet.. i baught a 2.0 P2 850 (96 N) and its running bad, it starts and runs but its not very driveable. it seems to have high oil presure and possably a faulty temp sensor ( sits slightly above dead centre) i need to drive it about 30 miles on a motorway.. is there anything i can do before hand to avoid any damage andget me home without much bother? cheers Jim

That all depends how much time you can spend on it before you have to move it. Any idea why the oil pressure is high? The coolant temp sensors are easy to replace, and there's plenty of posts on here relating to the potential pitfalls. Other than the usual rough running causes common to all vehicles ie plugs, leads etc, it could be any number of things. Have you checked for any fault codes? There also posts on here detailing how to knock up your own reader. Have you got AA Relay cover or equivalent? Just had a bad thought. High oil pressure could mean head gasket, hence poor running. Any other head gasket symptoms?

you may have something..the head gasket had aparrently gone not so long ago and the guy replaced it him self.. maybe not done it right??? hmm. thanks for the pointers, ive gathered the info for reading its codes and DIY reader.. may get upto an hour to play with it before any movement comences
